cob wall section of the house he is building The Owner Builder magazine is once again hosting a programme of informative talks at this year’s Seymour Alternative Farming Expo (Fri 19 - Sun 21 February). The ever popular topics of earth and straw bale building will be covered, as well as presentations about windows & doors, double glazing, insulated concrete forms, loft homes, worm farm waste treatment, solar thermal heating, permaculture, sustainable house design, earthen plastering, and steel framing. A representative from the Building Commission will be talking about private bushfire shelters, and Consumer Affairs Victoria will be presenting practical building tips to avoid building problems. Rob and Jaki Roy, from Earthwood Building School in the USA, will be advocating the benefits of cordwood masonry and earth-sheltered building. They will also be doing a short cordwood masonry demonstration on Friday morning.
The provisional Building Seminar Programme is available on the website, and will be updated with the final presentations closer to the Expo.
