Telstra ‘Bluey’ roars into Seymour

Australia’s biggest mobile, interactive product experience marquee, the Telstra ‘Bluey’, will set up station at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo between February 19-21.

The second biggest truck of its kind in the world, the custom built 25 tonne vehicle was transformed from a standard B-double truck into a seven metre high, two storey, high-tech Telstra and BigPondâ experience for customers.

Built by Titan Trailers in Wangaratta over a five month period, ‘Bluey’ takes only hours to transform from a roadworthy vehicle into a two-tiered facility with fully functional Telstra retail shop downstairs and a corporate hospitality platform upstairs, complete with air conditioning.

Samsung, Telstra’s technology supporter for the truck, has supplied the latest screens, laptops, phones and digital media backdrop ‘wall’ that demonstrates BigPondâ content and the Telstra Next G™ network capabilities.  Self sufficient in technology, connectivity and power, ‘Bluey’ is truly the “Telstra on wheels” that can hit the road to set up and function almost anywhere in Australia.

When erected, the truck’s floor space is 180 metres squared – almost the size of the average Australian house at 227.6m squared. In total, there are 22 screens in ‘Bluey’, two of which are large touch screens while 13 others make up two large media walls. There are 12 laptops to enjoy live BigPondâ content.

This year, ‘Bluey’ will hit the road and attend the V8 Supercar Series around Australia to deliver a dynamic facility for fans to get hands-on experience with the very latest Telstra and BigPondâ products and services.

Mr. Robert Bell, Telstra Country Wideâ Area General Manager Northern Victoria, said ‘Bluey’s’ trailblazing technology, size and portability will transform Telstra’s presence at major events, such as the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, where products and services are showcased.

“In the past, it took days to build a Telstra marquee and set up all our technology. With the custom-built Telstra ‘Bluey’ truck, we not only cut our costs, but we can roll up and be ready to meet customers in a matter of hours. It’ll be the most impressive piece of machinery at the Expo,” Mr Bell said.

Mr Bell added the Expo allows his staff to engage face-to-face with customers who come to Seymour from all parts of regional Australia.  “Our team enjoys going to Seymour Alternative Farming Expo each year. We meet some wonderful people and it’s a pleasure to find a solution to their communication issues,” he said.

“Again this year, we will have the latest live mobile handsets and wireless broadband products for customers to try before they buy. We will also have available a range of new wireless and mobile plans for consideration,” he added.
